Magelln.com currently exists as 1.0 Beta. This is the first version of Magelln which we are beta testing. Unlike Magelln 2.0 down the road, this version of Magelln uses a third party search API. We use Bing Search API. Some may question if this creates privacy issues. Especially since Magelln's mandate is to protect user privacy. However, in a word, our response is no. Your privacy is fully preserved, and kept private. How? It is the IP addresses of our web servers which the Bing web servers see. Not yours. Our web servers Query and fetch the search results from the Bing web servers using the Bing Search API. That way, you are never on the radar of any third party.
As a consequence, it is possible to exhaust our purchased API credits. If and when this occurs, you will see no fetched search results. If this were to happen in the stable version of Magelln, credits would be automatically purchased to maintain search functionality. Further, we would purchase credits well above expected usage to ensure that this does not happen - and auto monitor daily to avoid this situation.
However, being in beta testing mode, this is more likely to occur as we test the site and add new features. So, please bear with us. Something great is coming!
